Body Image Journalling

Body image involves the way you think and feel about your body. You may have known that already - but let’s take a moment to reflect on how important that is. Your relationship with your body is the one relationship you are guaranteed to have for your whole life. Maybe it deserves as much care and attention as your other relationships.

Here are some questions to consider and write about.

What is my body image history?
How has my relationship with my body changed over time?

How do I avoid my body?

What triggers me to feel body hate, disgust or shame?

What do I appreciate about my body? What does it allow me to do?

Who are the people (or other beings) in my life who accept and appreciate me in my body today?

What are my values?
How do I practice my values around my body image and body talk?

How do I choose my words when talking to or about my body? Do I use compassionate, harmful, or neutral language?

Even if I don’t like my body, in what ways could I be respectful towards my body?
